Wolcen 2 is an isometric dark fantasy Action RPG playable solo or in up to four player co-op. Set years after the events of Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, the world is in turmoil – Anathea, the goddess holding the Rift between reality and the demonic Void shut, is mortally wounded. Forced out of exile, you take control of a shadow-spawned Warlord and, toghether with other veterans with a dark past, seek to enact a Prophecy that might save the world. The Prophecy speaks of salvation and demands sacrifice, and while your companions accept it, the Warlord seeks a more brutal solution in a bid to retain control of his own destiny. Their clashing convictions turn your fight for survival into a story of redemption, self-determination and betrayal.
Wolcen 2 is planned to enter Early Access on PC in 2027. Development will focus on balance, performance, polish, localization and player feedback. The full release is planned for PC and current-generation consoles.
Wolcen 2 has no predefined classes. Weapons unlock skills, while modifiers, specializations and a vast passive tree reshape how they work. Combine abilities freely to create a melee mage, spellblade, tank caster, gunslinger or an archetype entirely your own. Change direction as you discover new gear and skills, allowing your identity to evolve throughout the journey.
Skills, weapons, passives and equipment are built to work together. Hunt for build-defining items, gather materials and craft what your character needs. Modify skills to change their damage, behavior or role, before combining them with weapon effects and passive bonuses. A single item or upgrade can open a new playstyle, strengthen an existing one or give you a reason to rebuild your character.
Fast, rhythmic combat throws you against waves of melee attackers, ranged threats and powerful enemies. Chain abilities, set up devastating combinations and tear through dense packs before confronting brutal bosses. When the odds turn, unleash your Shadow Form to overwhelm your enemies, reclaim control of the fight and become something even demons fear.
The campaign is only the beginning. In Conquest, factions continue to fight for power across dynamic battlefields. The Tower of Wonders lets you pursue specific rewards while influencing the difficulty and outcome of each ascent. Both modes support long-term item searching, new builds, collection goals and character growth beyond the final chapter of the story.
We aim to continue development beyond launch with new story expansions, free activities and optional cosmetics. Planned additions include new narrative chapters, side activities, post-campaign content, gear and cosmetic options, expanding the world, deepening its characters and giving you new reasons to return to the endgame.
Wolcen 2 is an isometric dark fantasy Action RPG where you’ll master brutal combat, build your character without fixed classes, combine skills and gear, and unleash your Shadow Form in singleplayer or up to four-player co-op modes.
No, Wolcen 2 is designed to be accessible to new players. Playing Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem will, however, provide additional context for the events that brought the world to the brink of destruction and offer a deeper understanding of its lore, as it is a direct sequel to Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem.

No. We were committed to supporting Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem for the long term and improved the game through updates, new chapters, additional items, UI improvements and balanced gameplay. Over time, however, it became clear that the game’s technical foundation was not designed to sustain a live service lifespan. Addressing those limitations would have required a complete rebuild.
We ultimately made the difficult decision to end active development and focus our efforts on building new projects on stronger technical foundations, while applying the lessons we learned from Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem.
No. Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem was built using an older version of CryEngine, whereas Wolcen 2 is a completely new project developed in Unreal Engine 5 and built upon the experience, knowledge, and production pipelines we’ve established over the years and through our work on Gods, Death & Reapers.
Using Unreal Engine 5 allows us to refine and optimize our development pipeline to deliver the visual quality players expect across a wide range of hardware configurations, including the latest generation of consoles.
In addition, the networking architecture has been completely redesigned. Wolcen 2 utilizes a listen-server peer-to-peer architecture, reducing reliance on dedicated servers and helping ensure the game’s long-term accessibility. This approach allows players to continue enjoying the game with their friends for years to come.
